Annual Plant City Strawberry Festival

Ah, Spring!

Lighter clothes, daffodils, warm sun and …. Strawberries!

That fabulous red fruit you forgot you missed, until you see those berries, ripe and juicy.

An annual event in Central Florida since 1930, the Plant City Strawberry Festival is more than just good eats and sticky fingers.

Video Overview

This is a slice of Americana, a tribute to local farmers everywhere and the official kick-off to the spring season.

The Strawberry Festival features a huge fair with all the expected mid-way rides and games.

This ten-day event concentrates on agricultural exhibits, livestock, art, horticulture, and youth developmental programs.

Contests

Contests are a fun part of the Strawberry Festival.

Some of the more popular contests are: Strawberry Shortcake Eating, which is open to only ten individuals willing to attempt to consume up to four pounds of fresh strawberry shortcake and whipped crème within the ten minute timeframe.

This messy, but hilarious competition is exciting and well attended.

The Baby Contest is open to participants aged 6 – 18 months.

Boys and girls are judged separately in categories such as Chubbiest Cheeks, Bald Heads, Most Hair, Biggest Eyes, and Closest Look Alike Twins.

Everyone is a winner in this contest.

Strawberry Festival Queen & More

A Florida Strawberry Festival Queen is crowned.

Livestock judging of beef, lamb, rabbits, swine and poultry take place.

Photography and art are considered.

The grand Strawberry Parade takes place.

On the On the Wish Farm Soundstage, big names in entertainment perform to thousands.

The 2013 lineup included Chubby Checkers, Foreigner, Alan Jackson, and Pam Tillis.

This is an event that must be experienced.

It is ten days of non-stop action, fun, rides and entertainment right in your back yard.

Come soon, come often.
