Changes Coming to Disney ís Food & Wine Festival

From late September to mid  November thousands of food and wine lovers will flock to Walt Disney World (WDW) for its annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

This year the event will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a few updates to the schedule.

If you plan on attending this festival you should make a plan in advance, there is a weeks worth of events and kiosks to visit.

New for 2015

Food is a major reason to visit Epcot in the fall.

The savory treats and mouth-watering scents will leave you with a few major decisions to make, which of the 25 marketplaces you have to visit and eat at.

Beginning at 11am every food kiosk will begin serving food for you to enjoy as you make your way around the 2.2km pathway through the World Showcase.

You will find Grilled Sweet & Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple at the Australian Marketplace; Farm Fresh Marketplace has added Pepper Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese; over at the New Zealand Marketplace a Seared Venison Loin is served with Wild Mushroom Ragout Kumara Dumpling; and you will want to stop by the Scottish Marketplace for a refreshing Scottish Citrus Thistle.

Celebrity Chefs & Culinary Demonstrations

Over the course of the festival celebrity chefs will perform culinary demonstrations, lead seminars and host premium events.

Some of the chefs include Cat Cora, Jamie Deen, John Ash, Kenny Gilbert and Robert Irvine.

Some of these seminars require a nominal free -between $10-$15- while others are free, but the value far exceeds the costs.

These seminars and demonstrations give participants and amateur chefs the ability to expand their culinary knowledge and delve into areas they may have not previously considered.

Eat to the Beat Concert Series

The popular concert series, Eat to the Beat, has also provided park guests with world-class entertainment.

Audience favorites like Boys II Men, Sugar Ray and The S.O.S. Band continue to return to the event and get the crowds moving with their music.

This year four new acts have been added; Chaka Khan, Everclear, Maxi Priest and Tiffany.

There are three shows offered per night at 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 8:00pm at the America Gardens Theater in the American Adventure Pavilion.

There is a chance to win prizes thanks to Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak.

The scavenger hunt will send you around World Showcase in search of Remy statuettes.

Find them all and you may win a prize.

Premium Events

There are premium events for you to get a dose of cultural awareness such as French Family Meal Traditions and Exploring Wines from 1996 to Now.

These new events will allow you to enjoy a French lunch on Friday and Sundays and sample a number of wines from the past two decades.

There is even a party, the Rockin’ Burger Block Party, that is dedicated to an American classic. Some of these eventswill in volve an additional fee and recommend reservations.

Grab Your Passport & Explore

For its 4th year Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog is back.

If you have ever seen the commercial you can imagine what this looks like with cranberry growers wading through the bog while Spaceship Earth sits behind them as backdrop.

Here you can find fun facts about cranberries and maybe end up suiting up and wading through the bog.

WDW knows that you may want to keep track of the places you have visited and the food you have sampled so they offer a complimentary Marketplace Discovery Passport for you to travel with.

The passport lists each marketplace location and the menu items offered there. You can mark each

A complimentary Marketplace Discovery Passport is available to be stamped at each international marketplace visited for the perfect scrapbook souvenir.

Each marketplace has its own unique stamp design.

Visit the Festival Welcome Center or ask at the Marketplaces kiosks to receive your Marketplace Discovery Passport.

It’s a great way to remember what you ate! After you visit a destination get your passport stamped before heading on to your next gastronomic adventure.

Enjoy Cirque & Sweets

On select Saturday evenings Party for the Senses will be back to delight guests with its ultra-premium tasting event.

There will be more than 50 wines and beers to sip on as you get the chance to sample tasty cuisine from around the world.

Cirque du Soleil will also entertain you during this event.

Extended Park Hours

During the festival Epcot has extended the park hours to 10 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth show will also move back an hour, with a 10pm start time all park guests should be able to enjoy the show while finishing their evening bites.

You have a 53-day window to make it to Epcot and get your food & wine fix.

There is a reason this event has been going on for 20 years and as the saying goes, “… Like a fine wine it gets better with age,” and this event is one that gets bigger and better each year.
