Disney for the Larger Person

The magic of Walt Disney World is not extended to only people of a certain size – everyone should feel the magic of the happiest place on earth, and thanks to some accommodations at Walt Disney World, everyone does.

Walt Disney World is notorious for being accommodating for all of its guests, no matter their size.

In a land of lines, entrances, and attraction entrances and exits, you may be worried about how to move gracefully from one place to the next.

Tips and Suggestions

With these tips and suggestions, maneuvering around Walt Disney World will be a breeze.

If any of the turnstiles look too narrow, feel free to use the handicapped/wheelchair entrances to the parks or rides.

Often, when boarding a ride that is low, it is best to go for a two-step approach, especially if you have joint pain. First, step onto the seat itself, then step onto the floor.

Getting out, raise yourself to the back of the seat and put your feet on the seat and stand, and then step out of the ride.

Seatbelts lock in place quickly – so be prepared! Pull out the seatbelt to its full extension, then fasten and let go of the slack.

Some rides are known to have roomier cars than others – for example, the front half of the cars on both Test Track at Epcot and Rock and Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios are roomier and longer than the other cars.

The back seats of Space Mountain are both roomier and longer, making them a good choice for anyone who isn’t “average” size.

When in doubt, ask. Helpful Cast Members are available to answer questions and point you in the right direction.
