Morimoto Asia & The Boathouse Restaurants

Two new waterfront restaurants have been added to the roster of changes coming to the ever-expanding Downtown Disney, which is currently being reimagined under a new name – Disney Springs!

The first of these two eateries is Morimoto Asia, set to open in summer 2015.

Developed by the Patina Restaurant Group responsible for Epcot’s Via Napoli and Tutto Italia, the restaurant will be Iron Chef star Masaharu Morimoto’s first Pan-Asian establishment.

The new restaurant will be a two-story masterpiece, complete with a grand hall, terraces, waterside seating, and a cocktail lounge.

Meanwhile, opening in spring of 2015, all-new restaurant The Boathouse will bring dreamboats from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to life! Featuring a menu of steaks, chops, and fresh seafood, The Boathouse is being designed by Schussler Creative – the company behind The Rainforest Café and Animal Kingdom’s delicious Yak & Yeti!

Downtown Disney Springs

Morimoto Asia and The Boathouse will be holding residence in the area once designated as Pleasure Island, an area that once hosted several nightclubs that have long since been removed to may way for shops and restaurants.

Downtown Disney, whose name currently covers the three designated areas of the entertainment complex – Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and West Side, is currently under a major revamp that began in 2013 and is expected to be fully finished in 2016.

Morimoto Asia and The Boathouse are the first two new restaurants announced for the redevelopment, which will include about 150 new venues and two massive new parking garages, and a total re-theming of the complex.

Upon completion of the renovation in 2016, Downtown Disney will become “Disney Springs”, a themed complex inspired by life in early 1900s Florida.
