The $200 million project, I-Drive 360, is putting the finishing touches on the attractions and restaurants that are scheduled to open in a few weeks.
The dining and entertainment complex on International Drive, just south of Sand Lake Drive, is home to The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussaud’s and SEA LIFE Aquarium.
The Orlando Eye’s 400-foot observation wheel is the focal point of the complex, which is flanked by restaurants, clubs, shops and attractions.
Madame Tussaud’s wax museum will feature over 50 amazingly life-like statues of icons past and present.
The SEA LIFE Aquarium will house over 5,000 water animals and feature a 360-degree ocean tunnel.
There are a number of other places to visit while visiting the complex.
Skeletons: Animals Unveiled is will display more than 500 different species of animals.
The attraction is planning a soft opening in late April before partaking in the grand opening.
Star Flyer, a chair swing ride that will come to I-Drive 360 in late 2015.
It will be the world’s tallest swing ride, rising to 420 feet.
Trendy restaurants include Buffalo Wild Wings, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Paramount Fine Foods, Tin Roof and Yard House.
Cowgirls, a Seattle bar, will provide a unique flare and feature high-energy entertainment.
Stop in for a mechanical bull ride, it’s the only one in Orlando, and a chance to dance on top of the bar.
Looking for something a little different, check out the fan favorite Sugar Factory.
The celebrity favorite is certain to be a favorite of anyone with a sweet tooth.
The famous desserts include the King Kong Sundae, which can feed up to 12 people!
It has 24 scoops of ice cream, sprinkles, caramel sauce, fudge sauce, strawberry sauce, marshmallows, Reese’s Pieces, chocolate chip cookies, crushed waffle cones, gummy bears, white chocolate strawberry shavings, sliced bananas, toasted walnuts and whipped cream, then topped off with giant swirly pops.
It’s sure to give the real King Kong a run for his money.
Some bars and restaurants are actually open for business so you can stop in for lunch and watch as the rest of the complex is built around you.
The site contains a lush courtyard complete with a water display and a $1.5 million water show set to music and color-changing lights, similar to a big name hotel water show that you may have seen in Las Vegas.
The courtyard and Terminal Building are an ideal location for any private event.
Free parking is available in the on-site 1600 space multilevel parking garage.
The grand opening ceremony of the complex is scheduled for May 4.
It is estimated that three (3) million people will visit I-Drive 360 each year.
