Central Florida is blessed with beautiful weather and amazing waterways.
One of the more unique ways to experience the Floridian sunshine is on a paddleboarding adventure with Hau Hele Wai Paddleboarding.
“Hau Hele Wai” in it's English translation means “Walk on Water” and that is exactly what you will feel like you are doing when you join them on one of their tours.
Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is one of the worlds fastest growing sports that also doubles as a fun and exciting way to explore waterways that doesn’t require any experience.
The equipment for paddle boarding consists of what is essentially a large, wide surfboard that is stable enough for you to stand on.
To add to that all you will need is a paddle to help yourself steer and maneuver around the water. Most people pick up the basics of paddle boarding within minutes and Hau Hele Wai’s instructors are part of a small and elite class of instructors having their ASI certification from The World Stand Up Paddleboarding Association, which for you simply means that you are learning from the best.
The company offers a variety of paddle boarding experiences in and around the Orlando area ranging from calm flatwater paddling on Shingle Creek in Kissimmee (perfect for people that are looking to get their feet wet in the port) to Manatee Adventures all the way to offering private surf clinics.
Shingle Creek is a host to several different kinds of wildlife including but not limited to turtles (lots of turtles), cranes, gar fish, ducks and several largemouth bass. You will also be happy to know that they have not seen a single alligator yet, according to their head instructor JT.
The majority of the time Hau Hele Wai Paddleboarding can be found right in Kissimmee, FL on the beautiful waters of Shingle Creek where their 90 min paddleboarding lessons are becoming a favorite way for people to beat the FL heat without the chaos often found in waterparks.
Hau Hele Wai Paddleboarding excursions are conducted morning, noon and night so there is most definitely a time available to fit into anyone's schedule.
Hau Hele Wai provides you with all the equipment you need to get started (including life jackets if you so desire), so all you need to do is bring your swimsuit and a smile!
Tickets start at $50 and anyone over age 12 will be allowed to paddle solo.
There is a 250 lb weight limit on the boards so children under the age of 12 may hitch a ride with someone else in their party as long as their combined weight does not exceed 250 lbs.
