Shingle Creek Golf Club, a remarkable new Orlando golf course, takes its name from the creek, which traverses the property.
Early pioneers who first settled Central Florida in the 1800s were drawn by the splendor of this pristine creek.
They used the creek for fishing, trapping and logging cypress trees, which were floated to a nearby mill then eventually made into shingles for their homes, thus the name Shingle Creek.
Today we have discovered that Shingle Creek is indeed, the natural headwaters of the Florida Everglades, which is located approximately 140 miles south of our property.
For over twenty years, David Harman has constructed golf courses for such noted architects as Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio and Arnold Palmer.

David Harman projects include Teton Pines in Jackson, Wyoming Turtle Bay in Kahuku, Hawaii; Pinehurst Plantation in Pinehurst, N.C.; Kauri Cliffs in Northland, New Zealand; The Desert Inn in Las Vegas, Nevada and Orange County National and Isleworth, both in Orlando, Fla.
Over 20 of the courses he has designed have hosted tournaments for the PGA Tour, Senior PGA Tour and LPGA Tour.
Harman's design objective for Shingle Creek Golf Club was to make the course play fair while keeping it a unique and extraordinary test of golf.
Assisting this effort are five sets of tees, which enables players to select their own degree of difficulty.
