New MultiTouch Interactive Displays at Kennedy Space Center

Updated: 26 Sep 2013 07:05:37 AM

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex just got a major update to its Space Shuttle Atlantis (SM) attraction.

Finnish company MultiTouch has installed two new interactive display units that will help further engage visitors and bring the exhibit to life.

The first installation is comprised of 7 55” MultiTaction cells that are arranged to create a complete time line of the International Space Station (ISS).

The time line includes a live look at the ISS, as well as various interactive 3D models that depict how the station was assembled.

Visitors will also get an idea of what it’s like to be an astronaut on the ISS, as one of the displays shows the “day in the life” of a visiting crewmember.

The second interactive area constructed by MultiTouch is comprised of six MultiTaction cells that shed light on the life of the space shuttle Atlantis.

Interactive displays show a time line of important milestones in the history of the shuttle, and loads of information on crewmembers, missions, launches, landings, and spacewalks.

Very Popular Exhibit

The new displays have proven wildly successful with visitors as they offer a bounty of information at your fingertips.

In total, the new Space Shuttle Atlantis (SM) attraction now includes over 60 separate interactive experiences across two main MultiTouch interfaces.

Atlantis was the last shuttle of its kind to travel to space and was retired on July 21st 2011.

The exhibit featuring the shuttle was opened in June 2013 at The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
