Resident Evil Escape from Raccoon City Maze at Halloween Horror Nights 2013

Updated: 03 Sep 2013 04:10:35 AM

Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City has been added to the long list of frightening mazes at this year’s Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights.

A lot of people recognize Resident Evil from the long-running series of movies, but the frightening franchise actually started as a popular video game.

Perhaps even more frightening than the films themselves, the Resident Evil video games take players to all kinds of numerous dystopian settings where as the protagonist, players must fight off terrifying monsters created by the Umbrella Corporation.

It has been confirmed that the maze at Halloween Horror Nights will be very much in line with this theme, and stay true to the video games Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

Video Game World

This isn’t the first time that Universal Studios has looked to the video game world for inspiration.

Last year, there was a Silent Hill maze, which like Resident Evil will be, was based on the game rather than the movie.

Popular Maze

While Escape from Raccoon City will be a new addition to Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, it was a popular maze at last year’s event at Universal Japan.

If the maze in Japan is any indication of what can be expected at Universal Orlando this year, then visitors are in for a treat.

Be prepared to fend off advances from all manners of Hunters, Lickers, and Nemeses.

Jack the Clown - Jack the clown might look a bit rougher around the edges these days; over the years we can only guess the places he has been.

While he may not be trapped in a haunted house -like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees- you will likely face him at some point during your time in the park.

Anything involving terror, blood and gore is of major interest to him.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure - The classic rockers are back with another great show for everyone young and old.
This show is almost too hard to put into words.

HHN Haunted Houses, Dates, and Times

An American Werewolf - This maze will be filled with more werewolves than the previous maze and that translates into If you're fast enough you might be stealth enough to avoid being mauled by a pack of roaming wolves.

Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees - Halloween Horror Nights 25 (HHN) will feature the likes of Freddy and Jason, but this time they will be both under one roof.

Insidious - As you enter the frightening home of the Lambert family you'll find yourself en route to the dark side.

Walking Dead - This maze is planning to put you to the test with its frights, if you are up to the challenge then make your way over to The Walking Dead attraction.

Face Michael Myers at Home Maze - When you make it into Myers' childhood home, completely stained in blood, you will also come upon the killer and his trademark knife.

This is the End 3D Maze - This maze will challenge you to face the devil, comedic snafus that may help you forget about the hellfire that awaits you and a new type of adventure in the haunted maze genre.

The Purge: Anarchy - Once you enter the maze you will be hunted by dozens of masked vigilantes who stop at nothing to purge, as they are entitled.

RUN: Blood, Sweat and Fears - As contestants make it through each obstacle, which are designed to mangle and shred you alive, the viewers at home are all at home cheering for you to survive or perish.

Asylum in Wonderland 3D Maze - The Asylum in Wonderland 3D scare house will take you to a wild, murderous world that you never knew existed.

Psychoscareapy: Unleashed - Not only is this slated to be one of the goriest scare zones in the park, they will also allow participants get involved with the judging of the overall competition.

All Nite Die-In: Double Feature Scare Zone - The double feature of horror offered at The Carey Drive-In movie theatre is twisted and the terrifying experiences that may make you give all types of theaters pause after a visit.

One of the most scream-inducing aspects of this annual event is without-a-doubt the scare zones, which are also known as street experiences.

Unlike the haunted houses, scarezones are designated areas throughout the park where creepy creatures roam freely so guests can tip-toe into some of the most pulse-pounding moments from their favorite television shows, horror movies, historical events and much more.

Each street experience is elaborately decorated to enhance the scare factor for each and every visitor that dares to venture through the zones.

Abundant with masked killers and gruesome gore, this year's brand new lineup of scarezones are certainly just as frightening as they are memorable.

ICONS: 25 Years Worth of Scares - Some of the creepiest characters will again come to life on the streets of this epic scare zone.

Scary Tales: ScreamPunk Scare Zone - There is no avoiding them and they are vying for the screams that will get your adrenaline pumping so give them what they want and they'll return the favor.

Evil's Roots Scare Zone - You will scream, you will fear moving forward and you will surely have stories to tell after you've conquered this scare zone.
