‘The Audience’ at Enzian Theater

Updated: 04 Sep 2013 03:05:37 AM

Enzian Theater in conjunction with National Theater Live will be presenting a one-time showing of “The Audience”, a play starring Helen Mirren as HRM Queen Elizabeth II.

“The Audience” has an interesting premise in that it takes place throughout the course of Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable 61-year reign.

In keeping with British tradition, The Queen and the Prime Minister of the UK meet privately on Tuesday evenings in HM’s private audience room in Buckingham Palace.

No one except the Prime Minister and The Queen is actually aware of what goes on in these meetings, but ‘The Audience’ takes a look at what they might be like.

Ups and Down of Elizabeth II

Starting in the 1950s with Winston Churchill and The Queen in her 20s, the play takes you through the ups and down of Elizabeth II’s reign as twists and turns in a changing Britain are revealed in these series of insightful, yet completely fictitious meetings.

‘The Audience’ introduce 12 Prime Ministers all together, all the way up to the current Prime Minister, David Cameron.

‘The Audience’ marks the second occasion that Helen Mirren has played the Queen and the reviews from London of her performance were unanimously favorable.

Filmed from an actual London stage performance, ‘The Audience’ will only be making a one-time appearance at the Enzian.

Show Tickets

The show will air at 11:00am on Saturday, September 7th.

General admission tickets are $20.00, while Enzian members can get tickets for just $17.50.
