Merida Disney's Newest Princess

"I am NOT a prize to be won!"

"If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?"

Recently crowned as the newest Princess, Merida is very different kind of Disney heroine.

Tomboyish and outspoken, Merida is not interested in becoming a proper, royal lady and wants only to take control of her own destiny.

A visit to a witch's cottage will soon send Merida on an adventure that will teach her how to balance duty with freedom.

Merida's Coronation

Fun Facts

  • She is 16 years old and the only Scottish Disney Princess.
  • The name Merida is not actually Scottish. It is Latin and means "a woman who has achieved a place of honor."
  • She is the first Disney Princess without a love interest.
  • She is the first Disney Princess whose story is not based on a fairy tale or history.

Where You Can Find Her

Merida has found a new home at the Magic Kingdom, where guests can meet her and her wee brothers in the stone courtyard of Fairytale Gardens, which has been draped with beautiful tapestries of Merida's family.

Guests will have the chance to speak, dance, and play with Merida, who will be happy to pose for photos and sign autographs.

On top of spending time with Merida, guests of all ages will be able to color their very own tapestry, produce a rubbing from a rune stone, and, best of all, practice their archery!

With a little help from a cast member, guests can shoot soft; padded arrows at a bulls-eye target several feet away and soon become an excellent archer – just like Merida!

Located between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, Fairytale Gardens is open from 9am to 6pm.

As the newest Disney Princess, Merida is very popular and so her Meet and Greet can become very busy.

The best time to visit is at 9 AM when the attraction first opens, as the line will only grow throughout the morning.
