Jiko is Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Finest Restaurant

One of the most popular resort restaurants in Walt Disney World, Jiko ("the cooking place") is Animal Kingdom Lodge’s finest restaurant, offering both a menu inspired by African, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisine and the most expansive South African wine list in the United States.

After enjoying Animal Kingdom Lodge's magnificent lobby (you will want to look around!), head over to Jiko, located on the ground floor of the resort.

Make it a point to hop on the free Animal Kingdom culinary tour.

The tour not only serves as a food tour, but also a truly culturally enlightening experience; who would have known!

Open and Airy

Open and airy, but romantically lit, Jiko's dining room is one of the loveliest and most unique in Walt Disney World.

Sculpted birds (for luck) swoop from the ceiling and the back wall of the restaurant slowly changes color from beige to yellow to brilliant orange in an imitation of an African sunset.

The room is dominated by two beautiful, wood-burning ovens, which will tantalize your senses with the scent of roasting meats.

(Be sure to keep an eye out for hidden Mickeys, as they are everywhere!)

In addition to its beautiful dining room and elegant wine room, Jiko is popular for its cuisine.
Start off with an appetizer of Crispy Beef with cool cucumber raita, Artisan Cheeses, or a Taste of Africa (traditional African dips accompanied by African breads and house-made naan) before moving on to an entrée of Chermoula-roasted Nigerian Prawn, Curried Lamb, or Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon.

For dessert, indulge in a slice of creamy cheesecake made with Madagascar vanilla, Tanzanian chocolate mousse, or a Warm Peach Torte with Almond Frangipane.

Evening at Animal Kingdom Lodge is truly magical.

Enjoy sunset over the Savannah while giraffes and zebras amble by and take in some African storytelling, offered each night around Ogun's Firepit.
