Food Options at Walt Disney World

For many, one of the best parts of a Walt Disney World vacation is the food!

With hundreds of restaurants and kiosks on the property, you're sure to find something to satiate any craving you may have.

Flavor Lab brings Disney chefs together, from all over the world, to collaborate on the newest recipes and dishes that will be offered in the parks!

The food options at Walt Disney World can be broken down into categories:

Table Service Restaurants

Table Service restaurants act as traditional, sit-down restaurants.

You will taken to your table and seated by a host of hostess, given a menu, and will then enjoy your food at your table and given the check at the end of your meal.

Some Table Service spots at Disney are buffet style, while others are family style where your server will bring your table platters of food for everyone to share.

It goes without saying that some of the finest restaurants at Disney World are Table Service, though they vary in degree of price with both casual and fancier options.

Tip: While it always recommended that you dress somewhat respectfully at theme parks, very few of Disney's Table Service restaurants enforce a dress code.

So, even if you're in the usual day-in-the-park uniform of t-shirts and shorts, you will be able to enjoy Disney's award-winning, world class dining.

Counter Service / Quick Service Restaurants

Counter Service, or "Quick Service" restaurants, located all over Walt Disney World and Disneyland, follow a different, but very simple formula: get in line, read the menu over the ordering counter, order and pay for your food at the register and then proceed to the next counter to pick up your food.

Then it's just a matter of finding a table, sitting down, and enjoying your meal!

Some Counter Service restaurants are not much bigger than kiosks where you can grab your food and sit down at nearby, outdoor tables, while many others are the size of full-scale restaurants complete with indoor seating.

Counter Service restaurants at Disney are often just as elaborately themed as their Table Service counterparts with food every bit as delicious, making them a good option if you are looking for a more casual and inexpensive meal.

Quick Service restaurants are now posting calorie counts for items on their menus throughout Disney World!

Refreshment Stands / Kiosk & Fast Bites

Refreshment Stands If you are for something even more inexpensive and fast, grab a bite to eat at one of the hundreds of refreshment stands.

While most offer drinks and quick snacks like fruit or popcorn, some refreshment stands do offer heartier fare from turkey legs to corndog nuggets to decadent pastries large enough to share with your whole party!

Character Meals

Character Meals are a wonderful treat for both kids and adults alike.

Your little ones can interact with their favorite Disney characters as they eat, whether it's with Mickey and Minnie at the Crystal Palace or princesses at Cinderella's Royal Banquet (both located at the Magic Kingdom).

Other popular options include Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Epcot, breakfast or lunch at Tusker House in Disney's Animal Kingdom, or Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort (only a quick Monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom).

These meals are very popular, so reservations well ahead of time are recommended.

Disney is extending hours at many restaurants.

This new policy will allow many families to enjoy breakfast at parks and by extending dining hours give everyone a chance to eat at restaurants that may have been booked solid for early dinner.
