How to Eat Cheaply at Walt Disney World

With prices at Disney restaurants so extraordinarily high, dining at Walt Disney World can be what breaks the bank during a vacation, especially if you are a large party.

 However, it doesn’t have to!

There are a few tricks and less expensive solutions to the Disney Dining Dilemma, even if you’re not on the Disney Dining Plan.

Bring Your own Snacks

Guests are permitted to bring food, drinks, and formula into the parks.

Many guests choose to bring along their own snacks, including fruit, chips, drinks, granola bars, and even sandwiches if their hotel has a mini-fridge.

With three Hess Express stations on Disney property and several grocery stores nearby, it may be a good idea to stock up on some inexpensive treats to be enjoyed in the park and bring them along in a bag or soft cooler.

This is especially wise for those with small or picky children who might prefer apple slices and Goldfish Crackers to a $10 plate of chicken fingers.

Avoid Table Service Restaurants

If you’d still like the Disney experience while you dine, but on a dime, there are plenty of places in the parks where you can eat for less.

For breakfast, stop by a Disney bakery for one of their massive pastries (favorites include the Kusafiri Bakery in Animal Kingdom, Starring Rolls at Hollywood Studios, and the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom).

Having a casual breakfast at one of the patio tables on the Main Street observation deck as you enjoy views of Cinderella’s Castle can be a magical and economical way to spend the morning.

For lunch, keep Disney’s food carts in mind.

You can pick up tasty corndogs, hot dogs, those famous turkey legs, salads, and much more from the stands for a fraction of the cost of a sit-down lunch or dinner.

Also keep an eye out for cheap eats at counter-service spots around the parks.

Some favorites include Casey’s Corner and Liberty Square Market at Magic Kingdom, The Yorkshire County Fish Shop at Epcot (which serves up hearty portions of fish and chips), and the Yak & Yeti Counter Service restaurant at Animal Kingdom.

Don’t balk at sharing counter-service and grab-and-go entrees.

Remember, at Disney, portion sizes can get as crazy as the prices, so sharing may be an excellent option for your family.

You can always go back to the counter and purchase another portion if needed.

FREE Soda at Epcot!

Do you get thirsty while touring Epcot?

Then stop by Club Cool in Future World and sample FREE soda from around the world!

All 8 soft drinks are absolutely free of charge and can be a refreshing relief on a hot Florida day.

Keep an eye out for Free Dining Plans

Disney often offers its Dining Plan free of charge for vacations in the autumn, so if you are planning to stay on Disney property, keep an eye out for announcements on Disney sites and blogs.

If you can get the Dining Plan for free and your families are big eaters, take it.

 You won’t regret it!
