Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano at Hollywood Studios

Disney legend has it that a young Italian girl who had been playing extras in movies started feeding her less fortunate actor friends, and her cooking was better than her acting.

She took over an unused backlot space and converted it – as best she could – into her restaurant.

She used whatever she could find to make her place cozy and inviting.

Chandeliers of cooking utensils, grapevines, and twinkling lights adorn the ceilings, and gingham abounds at this sit down restaurant.

Her generous heart and kitchen earned her the nickname Mama Melrose.

You can find this favorite spot on Streets of America close to the Backlot Tour.

After a day or morning of using up energy, this is the spot to load up on carbohydrates.

Mama Melrose’s Review

Classic Italian Food

Lovingly prepared, classic Italian food comprises the whole menu here, but there are plenty of choices for your whole party.

Start off with a caprese salad comprised of vine ripened tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, or the oak-fired mussels cooked in spicy tomato butter.

Three flatbreads are options for meals, the margarita, chicken or carne d’italia.

Chicken is the star of the menu and is prepared a number of ways – wood grilled on pasta with a cheese sauce, chicken parmigiana, and oven baked with limoncello-caper sauce.

Pork chops and strip steak are other meat menu items.

Three other pasta selections offer vegetarian and seafood options.

Authentic Italian desserts including tiramisu and panna cotta finish off the meal.

The highlight of the varied kid’s menu is dessert – the Spaghetti and Meatball cupcake.

Mixed drinks, wine and beer are available.

The Fantasmic! Dining package is an option, with dinner and reserved seats to the nighttime show.

Open for lunch and dinner.

Entrees are priced under $30.
