One of the two full-service restaurants inside the gates of Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti Restaurant is located in the Asia section of the park.
The restaurant offers excellent lunch and dinner fare, and has a visually stunning atmosphere (not to mention air-conditioned respite from the heat!).
Themed as an Andapur hotel restaurant, the menu is primarily Pan-Asian with an impressive array of appetizers, salads, soups, noodles, woks, and grilled items, from tender dim sum to Vietnamese pho to Malaysian Seafood Curry to Kobe beef burgers.
Yak & Yeti also offers one of Disney's most unique and decadent desserts: skewers of fried cream cheese wontons ($7.99) and fresh pineapple served with vanilla ice cream and honey vanilla drizzle.
At around $30 a head for appetizer, entree, and dessert, Yak & Yeti may be a little steep for anyone not on the Disney Dining Plan, but the food and atmosphere (and dessert) make it a worthwhile treat after a long day in the park.
Tip: Make a lunch reservation at around 3 pm. and request a table upstairs by the windows for an outstanding view of the 4 pm. Jammin' Jungle Parade.
Or make a dinner reservation later in the evening for a rare look at the park after dusk.
Even though your meal may carry on after the park closes, the staff will not rush you out.
After dinner, enjoy a stroll from the restaurant through the now-empty park down to the bus depot and parking lot.
Take the opportunity to enjoy Disney's world-class "set" design without being jostled by crowds.
