The latest of the changes currently underway at Downtown Disney is the closure of Team Mickey, an athletic gear and souvenir shop located in Downtown Disney’s Marketplace.
Team Mickey is to be replaced by the Marketplace Co Op, a store-within-a-store concept set to open in spring of 2014.
Work on the Marketplace Co Op building will begin early next year and promises to introduce “exciting new Disney retail shops and products” according to Tom Sheldon, manager of retail design and development for Disney Theme Park Merchandise.
The Co Op building will be comprised of six spaces for new shops. Last week it was announced that the new shops coming to Disney Springs would be:
Downtown Disney is currently in the middle of major renovations that will integrate the complex’s three present areas – Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and West Side – into a single entity known as Disney Springs.
Work is currently underway in Pleasure Island, as well as Downtown Disney’s parking lots where construction of the first of two large parking garages for the new complex is underway.
