The Magic Carpets of Aladdin at Magic Kingdom

Disney does an excellent job of catering to children of all ages.

In addition to exhilarating roller coasters and other fast-paced attractions, there are plenty of milder rides for little ones to participate in.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride at Adventureland in Magic Kingdom is one such ride that is appealing to everyone, but especially catered to younger guests.

The ride takes it theme from the 1992 film Aladdin, which was in turn based on an old Arabian folk story.

Aladdin’s magic carpet was central to the movie’s plot, and the ride allows you to recreate a classic scene from the film where Aladdin returns to Agrabah on his magic carpet.

Built in 2001, this ride is one of Disney World’s more recent editions.

Walking towards the attraction, you’ll feel like you are walking into Agrabah as several buildings in the area have been remodeled to resemble the fabled town from Aladdin.

Meet Aladdin & Jasmine

If you’re visiting with younger children, be sure to be on the lookout for Aladdin and Jasmine.

They can often be found just outside the attraction and are more than happy to meet and greet guests.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin accepts FASTPASS service, allowing you to save your spot in line and explore the rest of the park instead of waiting in the queue.

The ride itself is similar to the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride located in Fantasyland and works on the same basic concept.

However, instead of flying elephants, you’ll be boarding a purple magical flying carpet.

Each flying carpet holds up to four people over two rows.

While the carpets look the same from the bottom, they feature different brightly colored seats.

Ride Info

The back row of each carpet contains a control that allows you or your child move the carpet up or down during the right.

The entire ride lasts 90 seconds and has a few tricks up its sleeve.

In addition to the ability to change the vertical height of your carpet, you should also keep an eye on the camel that stands right next to the ride.

On occasion, the camel will squirt passing carpets with water.

While the magic carpet ride is not particularly high, it does offer some nice views of Adventureland, if you can manage to peel your eyes away from the beautiful magic lamp at the center of the ride.

With the area’s newly remodeled buildings, you’ll really feel like you’re flying above Agrabah.

It’s hard to believe that Aladdin was released over 20 years ago, but Disney World has done a wonderful job of introducing the film to a new generation with its magic carpet ride and surrounding scenes of Agrabah.

The attraction is great for smaller children and gives them a chance to participate in an interactive ride where they have control over their own flying magic carpet.

However, Aladdin’s universal popularity means that older children and adults are bound to have a blast on the ride as well.
