Best Place to Watch Fireworks at Walt Disney World

So, you’ve decided to stay late at one of Disney’s parks to catch the nightly fireworks show, but… where to stand?

While Fantasmic!

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes place in amphitheater, seating for Wishes at the Magic Kingdom or IllumiNations at Epcot is much more of a free-for-all and with so many choices, it can be tricky to find a spot that gives you a good view.

Here are of the best places to watch the fireworks both inside the parks and outside of them.

Of course, the cardinal rules when it comes to watching fireworks at Walt Disney World are: be patient, find your spot early, and enjoy the show!

Best Places Inside the Magic Kingdom

While front and center is always the best place to see a show, where you stand inside the park matters.

Obviously, you shouldn’t stand directly in front of Cinderella’s Castle, as this will block your view.

Standing further back down Main Street U.S.A. will offer you a far better and more complete view.

Arguably the best place in the park to view the show is “The Hump”, a small portion of Main Street U.S.A. between the Crystal Palace and The Tomorrowland Terrace.

Other good spots are in The Hub anywhere in front of the Walt Disney statue, the middle of Main Street, the fence by the Crystal Palace, the tables down by the water outside The Tomorrowland Terrace, and the Main Street U.S.A Train Station.

One excellent spot that may surprise you is just outside the park, down by the ferry docks.

Here you’ll have a fantastic view and piped-in music.

As a bonus, this area is rarely crowded and that it doesn’t require park admission!

Magic Kingdom Area Resorts

There are many spots in the Magic Kingdom resort area where you can watch Wishes without the crowds, but by far the best are the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, the observation deck at The Contemporary, the beach at Fort Wilderness, and the dock by Narcoosees at The Grand Floridian.

Simply park at any of these resorts and mosey down to the viewing area where you can enjoy the show for free!

Best Places Inside Epcot

There are many spots around the World Showcase that offer stunning views of Epcot’s nightly fireworks spectacular IllumiNations, but please remember that due to the popularity of the show, it’s important to camp out 45 minutes in advance to snag a great spot.

The spots offering the best views is the “front of the house” at the front of the World Showcase between the two gift shops, the Italy Isola, the bridge between the United Kingdom and France, and the area between Mexico and Norway.

If you prefer to take in a meal while you watch, schedule your dinner to coincide with IllumiNations.

Restaurants in Epcot offering views of the show are the Rose and Crown Inn & Pub in the United Kingdom, La Hacienda de San Angel and counter-service Cantina de San Angel in Mexico, Tokyo Dining in Japan, Bistro de Paris in France, and Spice Road in Morocco.

Book your reservation at around 8 PM (an hour before the show starts) and request a table by the window.

Be willing to wait for a window seat if necessary because this leisurely way of watching the show is definitely worth it!
