Echo Lake Area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Surrounding Hollywood Studios’ small lagoon, Echo Lake, are many of the park’s favorite restaurants, attractions, and shops!

As you leave Hollywood Boulevard and enter Echo Lake, you may notice the building begin to become a bit wackier!

Most of the architecture is this part of the park mimics the “California Crazy” style of the Golden Age of Hollywood and serves as the perfect transition into the world of fantasy you’ll find at the Indiana Jones Stunt! Spectacular and Star Tours attractions!

Who is the big green dinosaur towering over Echo Lake?

Gertie the Dinosaur is the title character from cartoonist Winsor McKay’s pioneering 1913 animated short film.

Though not the world’s first animated film, “Gertie the Dinosaur” was nevertheless one of the most influential pieces of early animation – so much so that Disney Imagineers decided to honor McKay by building Gertie in Hollywood Studios!
