Enchanted Tiki Room at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is located in Disney World’s Adventureland and offers fun family-friendly entertainment for visitors of all ages.

As the name suggests, the show has a Polynesian theme.

It’s housed within the Sunshine Pavillion and has been at Disney World since the 1970s.

The attraction just recently went under renovation in 2011 to include a state-of-the-art sound and control system.

Today, you can enjoy a colorful performance that includes over 150 animatronic characters.

The Enchanted Tiki Room is full of tropical decorations and flowers.

To fully enjoy the show, you’ll have to look up towards the building’s ceiling as that’s where all the birds reside.

Four Macaw Quartet

While there are plenty of different animatronic birds and other characters in the room, the entire performance is lead by four macaws named Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz.

The macaws are Mexican, Irish, French and German respectively and speak in accents based on their home countries.

The quartet has colored plumage based on their nation’s flag.

As an example, the German macaw Fritz is black, red and gold.

After being introduced to Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz, the four birds hit the lights and shed light on the whole cast of characters that call the tiki room home.

They all immediately break into song with a retro rendition of ‘The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room’.

The song features solos from the macaws, but be sure to take a minute to scan all of the room’s scenery in order to see all of the animatronics at work.

In addition to other parrots, you’ll also observe singing and dancing orchids and other plant life.

Next, the macaws introduce an all-female parrot-singing group who descend from the ceiling.

Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing

They begin singing ‘Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing’ and are soon accompanied by several other birds that chime in as the song progresses.

After a bit of conversation between the macaws, the show’s final main song is the ‘Hawaiian War Chant’.

This particular rendition of the tune contains several major sections.

The beginning starts off in a bright and cheery sing-song before turning into an aggressive and loud chant.

However, everything ends up on a brighter note and the chants are soon replaced by the pleasant singing voices of the various birds and flowers in the room.

The Enchanted Tiki Room evokes imagery and music from the mid-20th century, when Polynesia was very much en vogue.

Most of the songs are sung with a 50s-style arrangement and the whole show itself has been reimagined to pay homage to this particular time period.

The updated show also incorporates remastered audio and lighting that helps bring all the characters to life.

At just over 15 minutes, a trip to The Enchanted Tiki Room is a wholesome blast from the past that has been updated to appeal to a modern audience.

It is one of the highlights of Adventureland and is adored by visitors of every age.
