Flights of Wonder at Animal Kingdom

There is something quite awe-inspiring about watching exotic birds soar overhead in a display of breathtaking beauty.

One of the must-see attractions when you visit Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom is the Flights of Wonder performance.

In a shaded sanctuary-like setting, guests will be able to take in the absolute majesty of a dazzling array of exotic birds.

Located in the Asia section of the park, the stage has been designed to seamlessly integrate with other attractions near-by.

Continuing with the story of the Maharajahs, the stage has been designed to have the appearance of the ruins of a once magnificent palace.

Surrounded by lush green forest, the show opens with birds gliding effortlessly across the stage, and adorable pairs of birds racing from one end of the stage to the next.

The entertaining bird trainer offers an interesting insight into the birds that will be on display during the performance; allowing you to learn more about the fascinating behaviors that birds exhibit.

With a fair amount of humor injected into the performance, this show is sure to be a lot of fun for every member of the family.

Asian Theme

While the show is set with an Asian theme, it features a superb selection of birds from around the world, including the Trumpeter Hornbill, Rose-Breasted Cockatoo, Amazon Grey Parrot, Great Horned Owl, Blue and Gold Macaws, East African Crowned Crane, and the Harris Hawk, to name just a few.

Some of the beautiful birds swoop high above the stage to demonstrate their impressive wingspan to the audience, while others interact with the bird trainer on stage.

A few select audience members are often asked to participate in the show, which can be a lot of fun for the older children in your family; be sure to raise your hand when the trainers ask who would be interested in helping out.

A bit of additional humor is added to the performance with the arrival of a tour guide, who acts very afraid of the birds running and flying around.

This does more than add giggle-worthy moments to the show, it also serves to help educate children that there is nothing to be afraid of with these amazing birds.

Education & Conservation

The show also serves to education the audience about the dangers that the birds face in the wild, including the loss of natural habitat and the very real threat of extinction.

Conservation efforts are discussed, and audiences are sure to be impressed when the stunning American Bald Eagle is introduced.

Opportunities for photos with some of the bird stars of the show are available for a brief time after the show, but it is important to note that lines may be long and not everyone may be able to get their pictures taken.

Because Flights of Wonder is an outdoor show, it is subject to cancellation if the weather is not agreeable.

Show Facts

Show times may also be changed, based upon weather conditions, so be sure to check the times before you schedule other attractions and entertainment around the show.

The length of the show is typically around 20 minutes, but it can run longer or it may be abbreviated into a show that has a heavier focus on conservation efforts rather than a lot of humor and entertainment.

When dealing with live animals, and ever-changing weather conditions, it is important for the trainers and show performers to maintain a bit of flexibility.

This attraction is wheelchair accessible, and is suitable for all members of the family.

Be sure to try and get a seat up close to the stage so that you can have the best possible views of the beautiful birds.
