The Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a live show that tells the tale of Ariel, the mermaid who wanted to be a human being, with live performances and puppets and well as special effects, and uses the music from the film.

The fifteen to seventeen minute show takes place in a theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Visitors to the show will first enter through a room that contains a number of interesting artifacts that will be well remembered from the movie.

These things include the trident held by Ariel’s father, King Triton.

Audiences are then seated in the theater, which is reef-themed and filled with a light mist, and gives the feeling of truly being under the sea.

The opening number for the show is the catchy award-winning tune Under the Sea, which uses black light puppets and is sung by a puppet version of Sebastian the crab.

The next song to be performed is Part of Your World, in which the mermaid Princess Ariel dreams of becoming just like the people who walk on two legs.

Ursula & The Sea Witch

Ariel herself and Prince Eric are both played by live actors in the show.

Next to appear is the sea witch Ursula, a 12 foot tall and 10 foot wide puppet who will sing the song Poor Unfortunate Souls.

Ursula makes a wicked bargain with Ariel, and takes the mermaid’s beautiful voice as her reward for the bargain.

The next part of the show is a montage of the scenes from the film which end with the defeat of Ursula and the return of Ariel’s voice.

The show wraps up with the King agreeing to allow his daughter to go out into the human world and live with Prince Eric.

A dramatic cascade of water down over the stage is the grand finale of the show as the happy couple goes off together.

Wheelchair Accessible

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a wheelchair accessible attraction and allows guests to remain in their wheelchair or other mobility device during the show.

The show also offers the use of assisted listening receivers for those who need it.

The reflective captioning system is also available; guests should see the staff at the attraction for information.

There is no height restriction for this attraction, and Disney guests of all ages are welcome to attend.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is available on the Disney FASTPASS system, which can reduce the amount of time that guests will spend in line waiting to see the show.

It is located in the Animation Courtyard.
