Handy Tips and Tricks for Islands of Adventure

Back in 1999, Universal Studios expanded into two theme parks with the addition of Islands of Adventure.

Nowadays, it is easily one of the most popular hot spots in the city of Orlando with popular attractions such as Marvel Super Hero Island and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The journey does not stop there as this theme park boasts an array of outstanding shows and rides that bring all of your favorite cartoons, children’s tales, comic book heroes and myths to life right before your eyes.

One thing is for sure; it is easy to have a great time at Islands of Adventure.

All of the crowds and choices may seem daunting at first, but here are some handy tips and tricks to make your experience at this exciting theme park as wonderful as possible.

Avoid the Crowds

If you want to miss a big part of the crowd, head to Islands of Adventure early in the morning.

About 10-15 minutes before they open is an excellent way to hit many rides with little to no wait time at all.

The park is also particularly slow during lunch and dinner times.

Therefore, it may be a good idea to eat at off-hours so you can hit up all of the busiest attractions, such as The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and the Incredible Hulk.

Postcard

Want to remember your trip to Islands of Adventure forever?

If so, why not send yourself a postcard?

You have the opportunity to mail a postcard directly from inside the park.

Simply purchase a stamp from the IOA Trading Company located in the Port of Entry and Universal will happily mail it for you.

This is also a fun way to send a special gift home to all of your anxiously waiting friends and family.

Bring a Poncho

Many guests fail to realize that Islands of Adventure is a very “wet” park.

There are ponchos available to purchase within the gift shops at the park but they will easily cost you anywhere between $8 and $15.

Pack your own and save yourself some money for an extra souvenir or a delicious cup of butter beer!

Many rides at the park tend to get guests wet, and depending where you are sitting on the ride, you might get soaked.

Some rides to be aware of include Popeye’s Bilge Barges, the Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.

Florida also has the tendency to break out in random thunderstorm, especially during the summer season, so do not forget to pack along the necessary rain gear as well.

Room Keys

If you are staying at one of the Universal Orlando resorts, you can use your room key as an express pass to skip through the lines.

You may still have to wait around 15 minutes, but that is short when compared to the grueling 110-minute wait that everyone else will have to stand through.

Keep in mind; even if you are not staying at a resort, you still have the option purchase an express pass to use during your trip.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

No trip to Islands of Adventure is complete without a magical journey to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

This star attraction is exceptionally busy but is well worth the wait.

A highlight of the Wizard World is surely Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a ride through the Hogwarts castle replica.

The lines may be long, but you’ll be entertained with talking portraits, holograms of beloved Harry Potter characters and a walk through professor Dumbledore’s office.

Guests also have the option to wander off to Hogsmeade, where they can shop for things such as magic wands, chocolate frogs, extendable ears and much more.

There are numerous attractions at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Luckily, if you are staying at one of the Universal resorts you gain access an hour before the park opens to the public.

This will eliminate most of the long lines and grueling wait times.

Free Lockers

Many rides do not allow guests to bring their belongings on with them for safety purposes.

This is when you should be taking advantage of the free locker option.

Lockers only remain free for usually a 45-minute period, giving you just enough time to ride one of your favorite coasters.

Paying for all-day use may be a good option if you brought multiple bags or items that you don’t want to carry for several hours.

Smart Snacking

When everyone in your party starts to get hungry, opt for snacks that can be easily consumed while walking between rides or waiting in line.

Soft pretzels, churros and popcorn are all excellent choices.

This will not only save you a lot of time, but it is a great way to appease the wait for some of the longer rides.

Just make sure you are finished eating by the time that you get to the ride because most of the attractions will not allow passengers to bring food or drinks along with them.

Whether you opt for thrills on one of the many coasters or a quirky time at Seuss Landing, Islands of adventure is a true state-of-the-art theme park that everyone should be able to experience at least once in their life.

There is a little something special for people of all ages, which means that the entire family is sure to have a fantastic time, especially when you use the previously listed tips to ensure an unforgettable trip!
