Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: SEC vs Big Ten Rivalry at its Best

Every New Year’s Day, the sports world turns its eyes to college football.

New Year’s Day and bowl games are such a tradition nationwide that it is one of the reasons college football has resisted a post season tournament to decide its champion.

The two best conferences in college football are the SEC and the Big Ten.

In 2015 Buffalo Wild Wings became the sponsor for this bowl game.

They were previously sponsors of the Cactus Bowl.

Bowl Games

On New Year’s Day, these two conferences send three of their finest to the north and central part of Florida for three of the spot’s best bowl games.

They are played simultaneously in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium (Outback Bowl), Jacksonville’s EverBank Field (TaxSlayer Bowl) and the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium (Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl).

Of these three, the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl gets the best match-up.

After the BCS Bowls have selected their teams, the Cap One gets first pick of the remaining SEC and Big Ten teams for their game.

This practically guarantees the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl will feature two highly ranked teams each year.

If you are going to be in the Orlando area around New Year's, and you are a fan of college football, you will not want to miss this game.

Most of the time, the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl is the best of all the New Year’s Day Bowl games.

The SEC and Big Ten fans have developed quite a rivalry the last few seasons and they take this game seriously.

This year’s game between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Missouri Tigers was a high scoring affair in a jam-packed stadium.

Every fan was present in their teams' colors.

So were the many tailgaters partying outside the stadium.

Parking & Shuttle

Parking for the game is no problem.

Since the stadium is near the Amway Center, you can use the parking garages normally reserved for the Orlando Magic games and take a shuttle to the Cap One Bowl.

After the game, you can party on Church Street at one of the many bars and restaurants with other fans.

After spending the first day of the year is spent like this, it makes the remaining 364 days of the year a tough task to top it.
