Orlando Solar Bears

If you are looking for a “cool” place to visit during your stay in Orlando, you can catch some professional ice hockey at the Amway Center.

Orlando is home to the East Coast Hockey League’s (ECHL) Solar Bears.

The ECHL is a semi professional hockey league, which acts as a secondary minor league system to the American Hockey League (AHL), along with the National Hockey League (NHL).

They are the East Coast Hockey League affiliate of the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL Toronto Marlies.

The inaugural season was in 2012 for the Orlando Solar Bears, and the team has been well accepted in Orlando.

Amway Center

While providing a competitive team, Orlando currently has one of the highest attendance in the entire league.

The Solar Bears have benefited by playing at the Amway Center, which was awarded the sports facility of the year for 2012.

The Amway Center has one of the largest Jumbotrons of any arena in the world, and has many amenities such as a lounge and several merchandise shops.

If you have never had the opportunity to watch professional ice hockey live, there is much you have missed.

Nonstop Action

From the fast pace of the game, to goals and body checks, the action never stops.

Depending on the seats that you have, you might be able to see the sweat beads under the protective masks of the players.
