While on vacation in the Orlando area, you will naturally want to visit the many theme parks such as Disney, Universal, Sea World, etc.
But if you are going to be in the area for an extended period, and you get tired of theme parks all the time, there are may sporting events going on in or near the area.
If you like sports and want to catch a game in the Orlando and central Florida area, here are some of your choices:
If you are a fan of football, there are several great choices in the area.
The NFL has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Both play in beautiful stadiums built in the late 1990s.
The Predators represent Orlando in the arena league
They play at the Amway Center.
If college football is more your thing, there are the UCF Knights in Orlando in the beautiful new on-campus stadium, built in 2007, or the USF Bulls who play at the Buccaneers home, Raymond James Stadium.
Florida is the home of spring training in March. You can catch the Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.
Once the regular season begins, the Tampa Bays Rays are a short drive away in St. Petersburg.
If you are a fan of the hardwood, there is the NBA’s Orlando Magic who play in perhaps the NBA’s most fantastic arena, the Amway Center.
College basketball with the UCF Knights and the South Florida Bulls is also an option.
The NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and the ECL’s Orlando Solar Bears are great hockey venues.
The Forum in Tampa is a short drive from Orlando where you can catch the best of the NHL.
The Bears may be a minor league team, but they play in a big league arena in the Amway Center.
The famed Daytona International Speedway is a short drive from Orlando.
Even if you are not here during a race weekend, it is a great place to take a tour or perhaps try the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
