The Central Florida Railroad Museum is located in the 1913 Tavares and Gulf Railroad depot.
The museum is just one block south of Winter Garden's beautiful historic downtown.
It was organized and opened in 1983.
It is operated by the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation.
The museum's mission is to preserve, restore and exhibit Florida's railroad mementos and railroad history.
It contains a large collection railroad memorabilia to include dining car china and silverware service.
This historical display includes a mixture of local, state and national railroad souvenirs and mementos, which belong to the Central Florida Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
Their collection of memorabilia includes historical photographs, lantern, telegraphs, stoves, tools, furniture, timetable, marker lantern, lamps uniforms, locomotive bells, whistles and more.
There is a 1938 Fairmont motor car, a velocipede hand car and a Clinchfield Railroad caboose on display as well.
