Edge of Africa Exhibit at Busch Gardens

The Edge of Africa exhibit at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida is the best place to see your favorite African animals up close and personal.

This walk-through attraction is located in the Egypt section of the park, not far from the park entrance.

The Edge of Africa has been fashioned after an abandoned African fishing village and has plenty of spaces to explore.

Glass walls take you right into the habitat, while still respecting the animals’ space.

As with all Busch Gardens exhibits, the Edge of Africa has been expertly crafted to mimic a native environment for the animals, allowing them to live comfortably and happily.

African Animals

Lions, hyenas, lemurs, meerkats, crocodiles, vultures and hippos all make their home at the Edge of Africa.

A highlight of the attraction is the hippo pond, which is bordered by a glass wall.

This allows you to see directly into the water as the hippos swim around, often right in front of you.

Most of the exhibit is shaded to protect you from the hot Florida sun and is a great place to escape the heat.

Family Attraction

The Edge of Africa is suitable for the entire family and you are welcome to stay and watch the animals as long as you want.

To see them at their most active, try visiting either at early morning or dusk.

As an added tip, check the keeper talk times listed on the back of your Busch Gardens map to see when the keepers will be out to talk about the exhibit.
