Universal Orlando's Transformers 3D

With rides like The Revenge of the Mummy and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey already under its belt, Universal Studios is maintaining its lead in the development of innovative thrill rides with the installment of Transformers: The Ride at Universal Studios Orlando.

The ride, which already has locations in Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Hollywood, officially opened its doors to Orlando riders.

Universal Orlando's Transformers 3D has been an immediate hit.

Based on the Transformers film franchise, the ride epitomizes Universal's signature dark-ride-integrated-with-video-imaging, first made popular with the opening of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure.

Dark Ride

The dark ride features an upgraded version of the same system used for Spider-Man: vehicle-mounted motion platforms, which follow a track and bring the riders face to face with massive projection screens.

In the case of Transformers, these screens are up to 60 feet high and feature high definition, 3D projections of a thrilling, action-packed battle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

With designs by

Universal Creative,, Oceaneering International, and Industrial Light and Magic, the ride is a marvel of engineering and has quickly earned a spot with critics and thrill seekers as one of the best theme park attractions in the world.

The opening of Transformers: The Ride is part of an exciting series of renovations and expansions to Universal Studios Orlando, which also include the opening of the Simpsons' hometown Springfield later this year and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley in 2014.
